Itinerary
Days 1-3
Sacatepéquez
Antigua, Guatemala
Begin your journey in Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage city filled with cobblestone streets, historic architecture, colorful markets, and volcano views. Together, we'll explore landmarks such as La Merced Church and the Santa Catalina Arch, discover local art and artisan markets, and experience the city's vibrant culinary traditions through a guided street food tour featuring approximately ten tastings. We'll also visit a working coffee farm, enjoy a locally produced coffee tasting, participate in a hands-on craft workshop, and learn to make tortillas while exploring the significance of corn in Guatemalan culture. Our time in Antigua includes a special welcome dinner, opportunities for group reflection, and free time to explore at your own pace.
Days 3-6
Solola
San Juan La Laguna, Lake Atitlán
Surrounded by towering volcanoes, Lake Atitlán is home to vibrant Maya communities with distinct histories, languages, and cultural traditions.
In San Juan La Laguna, we'll share a home-cooked meal that honors ancestral cuisine, explore community cooperatives with a local guide, and visit a scenic viewpoint overlooking the lake. We'll travel by private boat to Santiago Atitlán to learn about local history and spirituality. A visit with the women's cooperative offers an opportunity to discover the artistry and meaning behind Maya weaving. We'll also explore the flavors of the region through a traditional cooking class in San Pedro La Laguna, preparing and enjoying a shared meal together. Between experiences, there will be time for rest, independent exploration, and optional wellness treatments, including a traditional temazcal.
Days 6-7
Guatemala
Guatemala City, Guatemala
Our journey concludes in Guatemala's capital, where we'll gather for a final group dinner. It's an opportunity to reflect on the week, celebrate new friendships, and share one last evening together. We'll spend our final night at a hotel near La Aurora International Airport, with breakfast and an airport transfer included the following morning for a convenient departure.
